A New Shrine to St. Carlo Acutis: The Millennial Saint

This September, the St. Rita Shrine Chapel will welcome a new shrine dedicated to one of the newest saints of the Catholic Church, St. Carlo Acutis. The Shrine will dedicate a new shrine honoring St. Carlo Acutis, who continues to inspire the future generation of the Church.

Carlo Acutis reminds us that a young person can live a life of deep faith while still experiencing the joys, challenges, friendships, and responsibilities of everyday life.

A Saint Among the Students

A painting of St. Carlo Acutis was donated by Joseph Kuyls ‘61 to St. Rita High School and now hangs in the school’s dining hall. Each day, students gather in this space to share meals, conversations, and time together. The painting serves as a reminder to the high school students that, just as Carlo placed his faith at the center of his life, they too are called to place Christ at the center of their own lives.

The painting in the dining hall and the shrine in the chapel offers two places where students and the wider St. Rita community can encounter Carlo’s witness.

St. Carlo Acutis famously said, “The Eucharist is my Highway to Heaven.” His devotion to the Euchairst, and his approach to life continue to speak powerfully to young people.

May St. Carlo Acutis continue to inspire the students of St. Rita High School and all young people that they too are called to holiness. 

Join Us for the Dedication

The St. Rita Shrine Community invites you to join us for the dedication of the new Shrine of St. Carlo Acutis during our monthly Solemn Novena Mass in honor of St. Rita of Cascia. This will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 7:00 PM. If you are unable to attend, you are invited to participate via livestream.
